Amorim States Returning Players Will Face Stiff Competition
Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, communicated on Friday his willingness to integrate players currently training separately back into the main squad. This would occur if suitable transfer proposals don’t materialize before the closure of the summer transfer window.
The players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, are presently training away from the primary team.
These seasoned players were excluded from United’s pre-season activities as Amorim and the management team assess potential restructuring strategies for the approaching season.
Ahead of United’s pre-season match against West Ham United on Saturday, Amorim highlighted that the opportunity for these players to return remains if their futures are not resolved.
“Some players need to find a new environment to gain more prominence, while others clearly desire a fresh start,” Amorim commented.
“We are allowing them time for consideration and decision-making. Should they need to rejoin the team, they will be welcomed back because they are contracted players.”
Amorim recognized the squad’s competitive dynamics, noting that returning players would encounter significant competition for spots.
He emphasized what’s at stake, especially with the FIFA World Cup approaching.
“I am prepared to welcome them back. Increased competition will benefit us. To participate in next year’s World Cup, consistent playing time is essential,” Amorim added.
Amorim conveyed his satisfaction with the current team but admitted that decisions about outgoing transfers will influence final choices.
“For me, it’s ideal since I’ll have a wider array of options. If they are battling each other for positions, it will only fortify the team,” he concluded.
