Usyk and Dubois Set for July 19 Showdown at Wembley
Boxing legend Lennox Lewis is confident that Daniel Dubois will triumph in his anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. The bout is scheduled for July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
Usyk, who secured a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, transitioned to professional boxing after his amateur success. He quickly gained prominence, becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion before moving to the heavyweight division. There, he continued his dominance, defeating notable opponents such as Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury.
The Ukrainian boxer maintains an unblemished professional record of 23-0. He now seeks to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in his upcoming fight against Dubois at Wembley.
Lennox Lewis, the last undisputed heavyweight champion, believes Dubois has improved significantly since their initial encounter and possesses the capability to defeat Usyk.
“I believe he is prepared. He has experienced challenges and grown. He has the potential to be a king slayer. He possesses the necessary power and has been in similar situations before. He previously knocked Usyk down, so he understands what is required. It would be a great achievement for him, representing Great Britain,” Lewis commented.
“It’s a demanding task, but he is certainly capable of succeeding. He has put in the effort and has a strong background. He is a recognized world champion, and I am optimistic about his chances. I think he’s going to win,” he added.
Regardless of the fight’s outcome, the victor will be obligated to defend the WBO title in their subsequent match against former champion Joseph Parker.
