Qalandars Bolstered by Addition of Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Lahore Qalandars have received a significant boost as they prepare to face Karachi Kings in the crucial Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 Eliminator match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 22.

Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has joined the Qalandars, replacing Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, who has departed to join Zimbabwe’s Test squad in London for their match against England.

Mehidy expressed his excitement about the opportunity in a recent interview, even acknowledging he may only play in a single game.

“Joining Lahore Qalandars is definitely exciting,” Mehidy stated. “This marks my second call-up to a franchise league. It’s a great chance to compete at an elite level. The PSL is a premier tournament, and with my past success in the BPL, I’m confident I can perform well.”

The 27-year-old also conveyed his aspirations to leverage this chance to push for a return to Bangladesh’s T20I team.

He is not currently part of the squad participating in a T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah or the upcoming three-match T20I series in Pakistan.

“I aim to improve my T20 skills to be ready for future selection opportunities,” he mentioned. “My goal is to rejoin the Bangladesh [T20I] team, and this is a way to enhance my game in this format.”

Meanwhile, fellow Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who recently joined the Qalandars as well, made his PSL 10 debut against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday. However, it was a challenging debut, as he was dismissed for a golden duck and did not take a wicket, conceding 18 runs in two overs.
