Mbappe Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis, Set for Medical Evaluations
MIAMI: Real Madrid’s star striker, Kylian Mbappe, has been admitted to a local hospital due to a bout of gastroenteritis, the club announced Thursday. This follows Mbappe’s absence from the FIFA Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal from the Saudi Pro League.
The football club stated that Mbappe will undergo comprehensive testing to ascertain the optimal treatment strategy.
In a formal statement, Real Madrid confirmed, “Kylian Mbappé, one of our key players, is currently hospitalized with a severe case of gastroenteritis. He will be subjected to a series of diagnostic tests and will receive the necessary medical attention.”
Gastroenteritis is described as an infection triggering inflammation within the digestive tract, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort.
Mbappe’s absence from the initial match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal culminated in a 1-1 tie.
Sources indicate that Mbappe is being closely monitored, making his participation in the upcoming match against Pachuca questionable.
However, expectations are that he will be fit for the final group stage match against RB Salzburg scheduled for June 26.
In his inaugural season with Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe showcased his prowess by scoring 43 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions.
Furthermore, during his debut season, Real Madrid clinched both the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Notably, this FIFA Club World Cup marks the debut competition under the guidance of new manager Xabi Alonso, who succeeded Carlo Ancelotti following the conclusion of the La Liga season.
