Filipowski Honored as NBA Summer League MVP
SALT LAKE CITY: Kyle Filipowski, a forward for the Utah Jazz, was declared the Most Valuable Player of the 2025 NBA Summer League on Tuesday.
The NBA also selected Filipowski for the All-Summer League First Team. The league made public its first and second-team selections following the competition’s conclusion.
The Duke University alumnus greatly impressed everyone during the Summer League, topping all competitors with an average of 29.3 points in three games, in addition to 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. His shooting accuracy was remarkable, with a field goal percentage of 56.1 and a three-point percentage of 39.1.
Filipowski, who is about to start his second NBA season, participated in 72 games for the Jazz as a rookie the previous year, recording an average of 9.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
Following two outstanding seasons at Duke, Utah selected him with the 34th overall choice in the 2024 NBA Draft, early in the second round.
As a sophomore, he was named to the consensus Second Team All-American. Filipowski played a total of six Summer League games, divided between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, and averaged 23.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 blocks in just over 27 minutes per contest.
His excellent performances, particularly in Las Vegas, cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most promising young players.
Filipowski recognized the contrast between the summer league and the NBA regular season after winning the MVP award, but he also emphasized his desire to remain true to his style of play.
“It’s obviously different in the summer league than it is in the regular season. I’m just trying to be myself out there right now. That’s how it will translate to the season, whatever that may be. I’m going to give it my all,” Filipowski stated.
