Punjab Issues Weather Alert for Heavy Monsoon Rains

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a weather alert, cautioning about the possibility of heavy monsoon rains in several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, during the Independence Day celebrations.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia stated that the seventh phase of monsoon rains has started and will continue until August 21.

The Director General explained that this phase is considerably more intense than previous ones and could bring heavy rainfall to both the upper catchment areas of rivers and the plains of Punjab.

He further mentioned that monsoon showers are anticipated during religious observances such as Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), potentially affecting the majority of the province’s districts.
