Armed Robbery at Mobile Shop in Karachi’s Defence

An armed robbery occurred at a mobile phone store in Karachi’s Defence Phase 5, specifically on Badar Commercial Street, within the jurisdiction of Darakhshan Police. This incident has heightened worries among local business owners regarding the decline in law and order.

Details of the Incident

According to the shop owner, four individuals arrived in a vehicle. Three of them entered the store, while the fourth remained in the car.

The Suspects’ Modus Operandi
  • One suspect, wearing a white shalwar kameez, entered the shop pretending to be on a phone call.
  • Two others, dressed in green and blue shalwar kameez, followed, brandishing pistols.

The suspects then held the shop staff hostage at gunpoint and proceeded to loot the premises. They stole two iPhones, including a 16 Pro Max, three additional high-value mobile phones, and Rs30,000 in cash.

Aftermath and Concerns

CCTV footage capturing the robbery has been released. Rizwan Irfan, a leader from the Electronics Dealers Association, mentioned a similar robbery recently occurred at a mobile shop in Defence’s Khadda Market.

Irfan also stated that while the suspects involved in the Badar Commercial robbery were apprehended with injuries, the stolen goods have not been recovered.

The increasing frequency of these incidents has instilled a sense of fear and insecurity among Karachi’s business community.

The association intends to communicate these security concerns to the home minister and other high-ranking officials.
