Landhi Factory Fire Injures Firefighters

On Sunday, a major fire at a Landhi Industrial Area factory resulted in injuries to at least five firefighters.

The blaze started in the Landhi Export Processing Zone factory early in the morning. According to Rescue 1122 representatives, the flames quickly spread to three adjacent factories because of the presence of flammable materials.

Officials reported that the firefighters were hurt when a section of the burning structure gave way. The fire has been classified as a “third degree” incident.

Rescue personnel stated that the injured Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) firefighters were promptly transported to a medical facility, with one in critical condition.

Authorities noted that the factory contained a stockpile of clothing, chemicals, and other items. The fire’s origin remains unknown.

A total of 14 fire trucks, two snorkels, and a water tanker were deployed to the location to assist with rescue efforts.

The emergency service reported receiving notification of the fire at 4:50 a.m.

The affected structures have been deemed unsafe due to the extensive damage.

The chief operating officer of the emergency service told reporters that the thick smoke and water shortages hampered rescue efforts.

A garments factory near Murtaza Chowrangi in Landhi experienced a fire last month, resulting in the destruction of millions of rupees worth of inventory.

The fire in the multi-story factory broke out unexpectedly, and the flames quickly intensified, prompting an immediate response from police and rescue teams.

Firefighters used smoke ejectors to clear the building and remove harmful fumes. The fire was brought under control after approximately three hours of persistent work.
