Kane Considers Extending Bayern Munich Stay
Harry Kane hinted at a potential extension of his tenure with Bayern Munich beyond his current contract ending in 2027. On Monday, he confessed that his inclination to return to the Premier League has waned.
Since his arrival at Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, a team he supported since childhood, Kane has achieved several milestones.
He secured victories in the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup and has successfully scored 103 goals in 106 appearances across all competitions.
Given the reported 67 million euro (USD 78.42 million) release clause in the 32-year-old’s contract, there have been numerous transfer rumors due to his stellar performances.
Kane communicated to British media his openness to discussing an extension, though he hasn’t yet engaged in talks with the club. He mentioned his willingness to negotiate should an opportunity arise, emphasizing that it hinges on the team’s accomplishments.
“I could certainly envision that. I mentioned a few weeks back that I haven’t yet engaged in those discussions with Bayern,” Kane stated.
“However, should they materialize, I would be prepared to discuss and have an open dialogue. Naturally, it depends on the trajectory of the next year or so and our collective achievements.
“At this moment, I believe we are in an excellent position, and I am not considering alternatives.”
Last month, Tottenham’s manager, Thomas Frank, noted that numerous fans desired Kane’s return to the Premier League, where he has presently scored 213 goals, trailing Alan Shearer by 47 goals and holding the second-highest all-time scorer position.
Reflecting on a possible return to the Premier League, Kane expressed uncertainty, affirming his full commitment to Bayern.
“Regarding the Premier League, I am unsure. If you had inquired when I initially departed for Bayern, I would have confidently affirmed my return,” Kane commented.
“Having spent a couple of years there, I would now suggest that the likelihood has diminished somewhat, though I wouldn’t definitively rule out a return.
“Throughout my career, I’ve come to realize that diverse opportunities and timings emerge, and circumstances align. Reverting to my initial point concerning Bayern, I am presently fully dedicated to Bayern.”
The England team, led by captain Kane, is scheduled to face Wales in a friendly match at Wembley on Thursday before proceeding to Riga for a World Cup qualifying match against Latvia on October 14.
