Joseph’s Bowling Restricts Gladiators in PSL 10 Clash

LAHORE: In the 17th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Alzarri Joseph’s remarkable bowling performance, securing figures of 3/33, played a crucial role in Peshawar Zalmi’s effort to limit Quetta Gladiators to a score of 178/7 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

The Gladiators initiated their innings reasonably well, with the opening duo of Finn Allen and Saud Shakeel accumulating a swift 46 runs.

Allen, who adopted an aggressive approach early on, was the first wicket to fall, becoming a victim of Alzarri Joseph during the fifth over. He managed to score 31 runs off 16 balls, which included four boundaries and a pair of sixes.

Subsequently, Shakeel engaged in another substantial partnership, adding 45 runs for the second wicket alongside Rilee Rossouw. However, Saim Ayub intervened, dismissing both batsmen in successive overs, reducing the score to 105/3 in 11.2 overs.

The skipper contributed 32 runs from 26 deliveries, marked by five fours, while Rossouw scored 27 runs off 18 balls, also hitting five boundaries.

Following these quick dismissals, Kusal Mendis and Mark Chapman formed a stabilizing 39-run partnership for the fourth wicket until Joseph claimed Mendis’s wicket in the 17th over.

Mendis scored 32 runs from 27 balls, including five boundaries.

Chapman, who emerged as the top-scorer for the Gladiators with 33 runs off 26 deliveries, was eventually dismissed by Luke Wood in the final over. His innings included three boundaries.

Alzarri Joseph stood out as Zalmi’s most effective bowler, capturing three wickets while conceding only 33 runs in his four overs. Ayub supported well with two wickets, and Wood secured one.
