Root Surpasses Dravid’s Catch Record in Lord’s Test

England’s seasoned player, Joe Root, achieved a significant milestone on Friday, surpassing Rahul Dravid of India for the most catches by a fielder in Test cricket.

The 34-year-old reached this landmark during the second day of the ongoing Test match between England and India. He made a remarkable one-handed catch at first slip to dismiss Karun Nair off Josh Tongue’s delivery.

This outstanding catch allowed him to move ahead of Dravid, who had held the top spot with 210 catches since 2012.

Root accomplished his 210 Test catches in 156 matches, which is eight fewer matches than Dravid played.

Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka is third on the list with 205 catches in 149 matches. Steve Smith of Australia and Jacques Kallis of South Africa are tied for fourth place, each with 200 catches.

Former captain Younis Khan is the only Pakistani cricketer in the Top 15, with 139 catches in 118 matches.
