Joao Pedro Discusses Adaptation to Chelsea Following Transfer
Joao Pedro has expressed that his experience in the same league has simplified his transition to Chelsea, according to recent reports. He joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in June for a reported £60 million.
Pedro showcased his abilities during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, notably scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory against his former team, Fluminense, in the semi-final. He also contributed to Chelsea’s 3-0 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
In a recent interview, Pedro mentioned that he maintained consistent communication with his Brazilian teammate, Andrey Santos, who also plays for Chelsea. This communication helped him gather essential information about the club.
Insights from Joao Pedro
“Meeting everyone was a great experience. Miami reminded me of Brazil, which helped me settle down. I was in touch with Andrey [Andrey Santos] via Instagram, inquiring about the squad and the club, and he had only positive things to say. Therefore, I am pleased to be here,” Pedro stated.
“I consider myself a highly technical player with a passion for scoring. During my youth, I also played in the midfield, enabling me to deliver precise passes to my teammates. Overall, I would describe myself as a skilled and technical player.”
Joao Pedro further noted that transitioning to a new team within the same league makes adaptation more manageable.
“Having spent a significant amount of time in one league aids a player’s adaptation. For instance, the transition from my previous club to Chelsea is smoother because it involves the same league, just different individuals,” Pedro added.
“I believe that once I commence training with my new teammates, it will be advantageous. Already competing in this league implies that it will be less challenging for me.”
