Jake Paul Considers Funding Taylor-Cameron Trilogy at Croke Park
DUBLIN: It has been reported that Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, is considering providing financial backing for the highly anticipated third match between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron at Croke Park in Dublin.
According to Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), his organization has collaborated with Ireland’s Taylor for her previous two contests against Amanda Serrano held in the United States.
Cameron stands out as the sole opponent to have triumphed over Taylor in professional boxing, positioning this rematch as a primary concern for MVP. Both athletes are under contract with the same promotional group that supported Taylor’s significant encounters with Serrano.
Bidarian stated, “Chantelle presents a formidable challenge for Katie, marking her only defeat. Consequently, assessing the feasibility is essential, and we are keen on staging it at Croke Park.”
He added, “While discussions with Matchroom have not yet occurred, Jake and I have extensively deliberated on this matter.”
Taylor, aged 39, has long envisioned competing at the renowned 82,000-seat venue. However, efforts by her current promoters, Matchroom Boxing, have been hindered by substantial operating expenses and negotiations with the GAA. To date, Taylor has only participated in two fights in Ireland, both taking place at Dublin’s 3Arena.
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom offered a tempered response to MVP’s proposition, recalling MVP’s choice to host the Serrano fight at Madison Square Garden instead of Croke Park due to greater profitability.
Hearn commented, “They had the opportunity to finance the Serrano fight at Croke Park, but opted for Madison Square Garden due to its enhanced financial benefits.”
Despite the WBC’s mandate for Taylor to defend her light-welterweight title against Cameron, Hearn suggested that any return to the ring and Croke Park would likely be postponed until the summer of 2026, assuming Taylor chooses to continue fighting.
