Pakistani Cueists Shine at IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship
Manama: Hasnain Akhtar and Ahsan Ramzan, representing Pakistan, have made their way into the knockout rounds of the IBSF World under-21 snooker championship, showcasing remarkable talent in Manama on Monday.
In the under-21 division, both Hasnain and Ahsan have advanced to the elimination stage. Simultaneously, in the six-red event, Muhammad Asif, Shahid Aftab, and Ahsan have also secured their spots in the subsequent round.
Hasnain Akhtar’s Dominance
Hasnain Akhtar from Pakistan continued his winning streak in the world under-21 category, achieving his third straight victory. In his third match, he triumphed over David Nistor of Romania with a score of 3–0. His unblemished record in the group stage has propelled him directly into the Round of 16 in the under-21 championship.
Ahsan Ramzan’s Qualification
Ahsan, the other Pakistani participant in the World under-21 event, has also earned a place in the knockout stage. Despite a setback in his final group match, he managed to qualify for the next phase.
Ahsan faced a 3–1 defeat against Lingyi Ryan Lee from Hong Kong in his last group match. He is now set to compete in the Round of 32.
World 6-Red Snooker Championship Update
In the World 6-Red Snooker Championship, Asif, Shahid, and Ahsan, all representing Pakistan, have progressed to the Round of 32.
These three players each secured two victories in their three group matches. However, Hasnain, the other participant in the six-red event, was unable to secure a spot in the knockout round.
On the final day of the six-red group stage, Shahid defeated Ayaan Iqbal from Scotland with a score of 4–1. Ahsan was defeated by Paras Gupta of India, and Asif lost to Aditya Mehta, also from India. Hasnain was defeated by a player representing Saudi Arabia in his concluding group match.
It is worth noting that Hasnain recently secured the world under-17 championship, and Asif clinched the world six-red snooker championship title at the IBSF World Snooker events in Bahrain last week.
