Muhammad Asif Celebrates Sixth World Title at IBSF Masters

MANAMA: Following his victory at the IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship, Muhammad Asif voiced his joy, noting the significant pressure he faced in the final match.

In a recorded statement after his win, Asif mentioned that matches against Indian competitors always come with elevated expectations, and no player desires to be defeated in such a critical contest.

“Whenever Pakistan plays India, public anticipation soars. Although winning and losing are part of the sport, nobody wants to lose this particular match,” he stated.

Asif acknowledged that competing against an Indian player in the final added to the strain, increasing his resolve to secure the victory.

“I felt compelled to win, regardless of the circumstances. Observers might not have understood, but the match was incredibly challenging,” he remarked.

Asif conveyed his aspiration to maintain his successful performance in future competitions, with particular focus on the Six-Red Masters Tournament.

“Alhamdulillah, I have secured my sixth world title. I am pleased to dedicate another title to Pakistan. I am aiming for an even better showing in the Six-Red event than I achieved in the Masters,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistani cueist Muhammad Asif achieved another milestone by overcoming India’s Brijesh Damani with a 4-3 score, earning him the IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship title at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain on Friday.

Asif, who had previously been defeated by Damani during the group stage, began the final match strongly by securing the first two frames.

However, Damani countered effectively, winning the subsequent three frames to take a lead.

Asif then demonstrated his tenacity by decisively winning the sixth frame, pushing the match into a final decider.

In the deciding seventh frame, Asif outperformed Damani, reversing his earlier group-stage defeat with scores of 98-37, 75-55, 0-80, 49-52, 41-64, 91-29, and 78-9.

The IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship marked Muhammad Asif’s sixth world title. The 36-year-old has accumulated two team titles and three individual titles during his distinguished career.
