K-Electric, K-Solar Partner with Huawei for Energy Innovation

K-Electric (KE) and K-Solar, its fully-owned subsidiary, have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies to collaboratively develop pioneering energy technologies throughout Pakistan, KE announced on Wednesday.

The partnership will be centered on utility-scale and industrial battery energy storage systems (BESS), electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and the creation of microgrids, according to the statement.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaborative feasibility studies, technology exchange, and pilot projects. These initiatives are intended to promote Pakistan’s shift toward a more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced energy sector.

According to Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, Chief Financial Officer of KE and Chairman of K-Solar, this alliance supports their larger investment plan and sustainability roadmap. It also aims to strengthen the energy value chain through varied, technology-driven assets. He added that they see innovation as crucial to ensuring Pakistan’s energy security.

Kevin Jin Yu, Managing Director of Digital Power Huawei Pakistan, stated that Huawei is pleased to work with K-Electric and K-Solar to implement intelligent energy systems in Pakistan. He believes that by combining Huawei’s expertise in smart infrastructure with K-Electric’s local energy knowledge, they can jointly create scalable, secure, and sustainable energy solutions that support the country’s ecological transformation.

Fahd Khawaja, CEO of K-Solar, commented that they will collaborate with Huawei to use advanced global technology to provide effective, dependable, and sustainable battery energy storage options to industrial clients nationwide.
