MANAMA: Promising Pakistani cueist Hasnain Akhtar sustained his victorious streak at the IBSF World U17 Snooker Championship, securing a commanding 3-0 triumph against Mohammad Alrumaithi of the UAE here at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain on Tuesday.
Hasnain initiated the match strongly, achieving a 61-point break to secure the opening frame with a 98-5 score.
He exhibited similar dominance in the following frame, clinching it with a 74-6 score, fueled by a 65-point break, moving closer to victory.
The third frame mirrored the previous ones as Hasnain Akhtar posted another break exceeding 50 points to finalize a flawless 3-0 victory against Alrumaithi.
This win signified his second in the IBSF World U17 Snooker Championship, mirroring his initial 3-0 defeat of Abdulla Al Musleh of Qatar in his first match.
Hasnain Akhtar showcased complete command in his initial match, overwhelming Al Musleh 3-0 with frame scores of 72-2, 65-9, 81-14.
In the Masters event, celebrated cueist Muhammad Asif progressed to the pre-quarterfinals with a straight-frame victory against Tony Morgan of Wales.
The former world amateur champion demonstrated full control in the Round of 16, defeating Morgan 3-0 with frame scores of 74-10, 106-0, and 89-11.
He amassed an impressive 90-point break in the second frame, following up with a 61-point break in the third, clinching the win without conceding a single frame.
Asif’s strategic insight and precise shot execution left his opponent struggling to find his footing in the match. Renowned for his composed demeanor and break-building capabilities, Asif displayed fluid form.
The victory symbolized a significant comeback for Asif, who faced a setback on Monday with a 3-0 loss to Brijesh Damani of India in a Group C encounter.
