Hasan Ali Reflects on Karachi Kings’ PSL 10 Journey After Eliminator Defeat

LAHORE: Following Karachi Kings’ defeat to Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 1 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, vice-captain Hasan Ali shared his reflections on the tournament.

During the post-match press briefing, Hasan emphasized the positive aspects that Karachi Kings experienced throughout the competition.

“The score was reasonable, but we struggled to secure wickets in the powerplay overs,” he commented, while acknowledging Abdullah Shafique’s impressive batting performance for Lahore.

“Both Abdullah and Fakhar displayed excellent batting skills,” he added.

Despite the disappointment of an early exit, the right-arm bowler expressed optimism about the team’s development.

“This is a tough moment for me. Regrettably, we couldn’t achieve a victory, but collectively, we demonstrated improved cricket this season compared to the previous three or four seasons,” he stated.

He also mentioned his comeback following a significant injury and the dedicated effort he invested at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

“Returning to the team after a severe injury was crucial for me. Pakistan holds immense importance for me, and being reinstated in the squad felt incredibly special,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on his individual performance, the 30-year-old expressed contentment.

“I am quite pleased with my performance. My responsibility is to maintain consistent hard work,” he remarked.

The bowler recognized certain strategic errors during the eliminator, particularly in bowling accuracy and fielding execution.

“We established a competitive score, but our bowling execution in the powerplay lacked precision,” Hasan acknowledged.

He also commended David Warner’s leadership qualities and extensive experience.

“Having Warner on our side was a significant advantage. His vast experience in international cricket is well-known. Playing and learning under his captaincy as vice-captain was an invaluable experience,” Hasan stated.

Despite the setback of not reaching the final, Hasan expressed pride in the team’s collective endeavors.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to advance to the final, which was our objective,” Hasan Ali concluded.

Notably, the Karachi Kings, led by David Warner, were eliminated from Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 after their defeat against Lahore Qalandars in the Eliminator match at Gaddafi Stadium.

While pursuing a target of 191 runs, Lahore Qalandars secured a comfortable win, losing four wickets with eight balls remaining.

Lahore Qalandars are set to compete against Islamabad United in Qualifier 2 of PSL 10, with the victor proceeding to the Grand Final against Quetta Gladiators on May 25.
