Hasan Ali Expresses Excitement After BBL Draft Selection

The BBL 15 player draft occurred on Thursday in Melbourne. Pakistan’s Hasan Ali voiced his enthusiasm after the Adelaide Strikers selected him for the upcoming Big Bash League season.

The 30-year-old right-arm pacer is set to debut in Australia’s prominent T20 competition. He conveyed his anticipation on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Super excited to represent @StrikersBBL in #BBL15, Can’t wait to get started. Australia, see you soon!” Hasan posted.

Following a return from injury during Pakistan’s recent 3-0 T20I series victory against Bangladesh, Hasan made a strong impact by securing eight wickets across three matches.

He has continued his form in England’s T20 Blast, playing for the Birmingham Bears, where he has claimed 11 wickets in five games, including a remarkable six-wicket performance.

During the BBL 15 draft in Melbourne, Shaheen Shah Afridi, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer, was chosen as the first overall international pick.

From the 74 registered Pakistani players, seven were selected by six of the eight BBL franchises.

Haris Rauf, another right-arm pacer, has been retained by the Melbourne Stars. Rauf, currently with the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, has been an important player for the Stars since 2019.

Babar Azam, the former Pakistan captain, was pre-signed by the Sydney Sixers prior to the draft and is scheduled to make his BBL debut this season.

Furthermore, Hassan Khan, a former Pakistan U19 cricketer, was selected by the Melbourne Renegades in the Gold category. Hasan Ali was drafted into the Adelaide Strikers squad.

This season will mark Hasan’s first appearance in the BBL, although he has previously participated in leagues such as the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
