Haris Lauds Zalmi’s Batting Lineup

LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Haris, voiced his support for the team’s opening batsmen, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, on Wednesday. He expressed confidence that they would regain their form in the upcoming matches of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

Speaking to the media, Haris commended the established partnership of Babar and Ayub, emphasizing their consistent performances over the previous two PSL seasons.

“Our top order has consistently ranked among the best in the tournament for the past couple of years,” Haris stated.

“Saim Ayub and Babar have demonstrated remarkable cricket skills. The team and management are completely confident in their capabilities. While external doubts may arise, we, within the team, fully endorse them,” he added.

The 24-year-old further noted the team’s anticipation for the openers to perform at crucial moments, particularly as the playoffs draw near.

“As we approach the critical phase of the tournament, I am certain that both will step up to the occasion,” he added.

Addressing the environmental conditions, Haris mentioned that the pitches are becoming drier due to the heat, but local players are well-adapted.

“The weather does not pose a significant problem for us. Overseas players might feel it more, but we are accustomed to it.”

Dismissing any speculations about a conflict with Shaheen Afridi, Haris clarified, “Shaheen is like a brother to me. Competing intensely against skilled bowlers does not imply any animosity.”

He also recognized the standout performers of the current PSL 10, including Sahibzada Farhan, Ubaid Shah, Ali Raza, and Maaz Khan, identifying them as promising talents for Pakistan.

Mohammad Haris also acknowledged the influence of mentors such as Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed, and James Foster within the team’s structure.

“Everyone in our management is supportive. Zalmi supports all players, regardless of their seniority,” he added.

Regarding his own position, Haris mentioned that he is currently batting at number four and is comfortable with the role.

“I am prepared to play wherever the team requires me—whether at four, five, or six,” he concluded.
