Pakistan Economic Survey 2024-25 Launch Today

The Pakistan Economic Survey for 2024-25 will be presented by the government this afternoon (Monday).

According to an official statement from the Finance Ministry, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will unveil the Economic Survey 2024-25 at a ceremony scheduled for 2:30 PM in Islamabad. Mr. Aurangzeb previously served as CEO and president of a major national bank.

This survey is an essential document released before the yearly federal budget, providing comprehensive data on the nation’s socio-economic performance throughout the current fiscal year.

The budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 will be announced by the government on Tuesday.

Originally, the Economic Survey 2024-25 and the budget announcement for FY26 were slated for June 1 and June 2, respectively.

However, the government subsequently postponed these dates to June 6 and June 7.

On Wednesday, the National Economic Council (NEC) approved a gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 2.7% for the current fiscal year and has projected a growth rate of 4.2% for the upcoming financial year.

The NEC was briefed that a total of Rs3.483 trillion is being allocated to the annual national development program, with Rs1.100 trillion contributed by the federal government and Rs2.383 trillion by the provinces.

The meeting also heard that remittances had increased by 30.9% between July 2024 and April 2025 and that the current account balance had turned positive for the first time.

Furthermore, the fiscal deficit for the fiscal year 2024-25 has decreased to 2.6% of GDP, while the primary balance stands at 3% of GDP.
