Government Denies Rumors of President’s Resignation

The federal government on Thursday firmly dismissed circulating speculations concerning President Asif Ali Zardari’s potential resignation and allegations that the army chief is “aspiring to assume the presidency.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed the matter via a statement on his X account, stating, “We are fully aware of the individuals orchestrating the malicious campaign aimed at President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff.”

“I have clearly stated that there have been no discussions, nor does any such concept exist, regarding the President being asked to resign or the COAS seeking to take over the presidency,” he emphasized.

Naqvi affirmed that President Zardari maintains a robust and respectful rapport with the armed forces leadership. He cited the president’s remarks: “I am aware of who is propagating these falsehoods, their motivations, and who stands to gain from this propaganda.”

This is a developing story; further details will be added as they emerge.
