Explosion on MA Jinnah Road Injures Several
At least 25 individuals sustained injuries following a significant explosion that occurred near a firecracker storage facility on MA Jinnah Road on Thursday. The blast triggered a substantial fire and intermittent explosions in the surrounding vicinity.
A senior police official confirmed that the explosion’s force caused windows to shatter, resulting in shards of glass striking those nearby.
Approximately ten of the injured were promptly transported to Civil Hospital, while the remaining victims were administered treatment at adjacent medical centers. A large number of injuries were attributed to the shattered glass from the windows.
Law enforcement and paramilitary personnel quickly established a security perimeter around the affected area, as emergency responders worked to extinguish the flames engulfing the storage building. MA Jinnah Road, in close proximity to Sea Breeze Plaza, was closed off on both sides to protect the public due to concerns regarding potential additional explosions.
The building, comprised of a ground floor and two additional stories, housed commercial establishments selling medical equipment in conjunction with the firecracker storage. Authorities stated that highly flammable materials, including pressurized oxygen tanks, were being moved rapidly to prevent a more severe incident.
The blast’s intense force also inflicted damage on nearby automobiles and shattered windows in adjacent structures, which caused significant smoke to fill the environment in the direction of the Lines Area.
Six firefighting vehicles were present at the site, actively suppressing the blaze while sporadic explosions created challenges for operations. Witnesses reported scenes of disarray and panic.

- A rescue worker named Shahid mentioned, “There is a complete manufacturing operation for explosives located inside. At the rear of the building, they maintain a storage area for firecrackers.”
- He further noted, “Among the injured is a 70-year-old individual who suffered a complete fracture of their leg bone. The incident was reportedly triggered by a cylinder explosion. Explosives were being packaged at the back of the building.”
