CIE Offers Free Retakes for Leaked Exam Papers

Cambridge International Education (CIE) has announced that students who participated in any of the three compromised papers during the June 2025 examination period will have the opportunity to retake them without charge in November.

The affected assessments include AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12, AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 42, and AS & A Level Computer Science Paper 22. CIE has indicated that it will provide further information to students who attempted one or more of these specific papers.

The examination board has verified that results for these subjects will be released according to the standard procedure. In addition, to ensure equity for all impacted candidates, free resits will be offered for the syllabus entry during the November 2025 exam series.

“A communication has been dispatched to all candidates and their families through their respective schools. Further details will be shared following the release of the June 2025 exam series results. Candidates with additional inquiries are encouraged to contact their schools.”

Last month, CIE substantiated a partial compromise of its examination papers. This confirmation followed the completion of an inquiry into the recent leak, and the subsequent submission of a report to the Federal Ministry of Education. The report indicated the discovery of credible evidence of malpractice.

The investigative report revealed that portions of three examination papers were disseminated shortly before the scheduled exams.

  • One question was leaked prior to the A-level mathematics paper 12 exam.
  • Parts of two questions were leaked before the AS- and A-level mathematics paper 42 exam.
  • Parts of one question were leaked before the AS- and A-level computer science paper 22.
