Eubank Jr. and Benn Poised for Rematch Following Thrilling Encounter

LONDON: Following their electrifying showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Eddie Hearn has formally verified that a rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is in development. In their prior contest, Eubank Jr. handed Benn his first professional defeat in a compelling 12-round battle.

The intense match saw Eubank Jr. claim victory through a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 116-112. Despite Benn’s determined efforts, Eubank Jr.’s greater experience and composure proved crucial, leading many fans to declare it an instant classic.

Hearn, speaking on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel, mentioned that a rematch had been agreed contractually before the initial fight.

“The rematch is already contracted and done,” Hearn confirmed.

“Conor remarked to me, ‘You thought that was a war? Wait until you see the rematch!’ He has already started training and is eager to proceed.”

Reportedly, Turki Alalshikh, a significant organizer of major boxing events in both Saudi Arabia and the UK, is advocating for the rematch to occur later in the year.

A provisional date has been suggested for late September, with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium likely hosting the event again.

“The numbers are substantial,” Hearn added. “The second fight will set new records across the board. That’s what we agreed upon – we’re committed.”

After the fight, Eubank Jr. was hospitalized for routine evaluations. He later announced that he had undergone minor eye surgery to address a cut resulting from an accidental headbutt. Refuting rumors of a fractured jaw, he communicated with fans via social media:

“It took close to three years, but we finally accomplished our goal… None of this would be possible without the fans. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, Benn has displayed notable resilience. The 28-year-old welterweight has resumed training shortly after his defeat and is resolved to rebuild his standing — either through the highly anticipated rematch or by pursuing world title opportunities at welterweight.

The Eubank-Benn rivalry, originating from their fathers’ famous clashes in the 1990s, continues to fascinate British boxing enthusiasts.
