Engro Powergen Qadirpur Inks Agreement for Additional Gas Supply
Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (EPQL), a part of Engro Energy Limited, has announced the execution of a supplemental agreement to its existing power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA-G).
According to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the agreement allows for the addition of gas from the Badar-1 gas field, provided by Petroleum Exploration Limited (PEL), as a supplementary fuel source for EPQL’s power generation facility.
Past Agreement
In August of the previous year, EPQL formalized a gas supply agreement with PEL. However, the utilization of this gas was contingent upon securing full regulatory approval.
Regulatory Approval Pending
“The supplemental agreement is still pending certain regulatory approvals, and the utilization of gas under the GSA will only commence once all necessary approvals have been obtained,” the company stated.
EPQL functions as an independent power producer (IPP), managing a 217 MW plant in Qadirpur, Ghotki, fueled by permeate gas.
The facility is configured as a combined cycle plant with a 1+1+1 arrangement, comprising a gas turbine, a heat recovery system generator (HRSG), and a steam turbine.
