Pakistan observed Eid ul-Fitr with widespread religious enthusiasm today, marking the end of Ramadan. Citizens across the nation, from bustling cities to remote villages, participated in special Eid prayers. Political leaders also joined congregations in their hometowns, offering prayers for the country’s peace, security, and prosperity. These gatherings highlighted a sense of unity and shared identity as the Muslim community celebrated the joyous occasion.
Prominent figures led prayers in various locations, emphasizing national well-being. President Asif Ali Zardari attended prayers at Zardari House in Nawabshah, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in Lahore, engaging with local leaders and citizens. Other ministers and officials, including Rana Sanaullah in Faisalabad and Khawaja Asif in Sialkot, also performed their Eid devotions. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was in Larkana for the prayers, extending greetings to the public following the service.
The spirit of Eid extended to provincial leaders and regional representatives. Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan led prayers in his ancestral village, reminding attendees of the importance of supporting the less fortunate. Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi observed the prayers at Governor House. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur prayed in Dera Ismail Khan, seeking justice and relief for the people, while Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi offered prayers in the Khyber District for peace and unity.
Eid celebrations transcended political divides, with many leaders using the occasion to reflect on national and international issues. The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, addressed a congregation in Muzaffarabad, remembering victims of violence and condemning ongoing conflicts. Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani led prayers in Multan, underscoring the communal aspect of the holiday. These moments of prayer and reflection were crucial for many during this significant religious festival.
Across the country, hundreds of Eid congregations were held, fostering a collective sense of devotion and community spirit. From Quetta, where over 100 services took place and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti interacted with citizens, to Karachi where MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed hopes for improved governance, the day was filled with shared prayers and greetings. The exchange of well wishes and the communal atmosphere emphasized the importance of solidarity and mutual respect during Eid ul-Fitr.
