Dodgers Set to Face Rockies with Yamamoto Against Dollander

DENVER: In a Major League Baseball (MLB) showdown at Coors Field on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the Colorado Rockies with a 9-7 victory, highlighted by impressive performances from Michael Conforto and Shohei Ohtani.

Conforto powered a three-run home run, while Ohtani contributed a two-run shot for the Dodgers.

Michael Toglia delivered a pair of RBI doubles in the initial and third innings, giving the Rockies an early 2-0 advantage.

However, the Dodgers responded emphatically in the fourth, scoring six runs. Conforto’s homer sailed over the right-field fence, and Ohtani blasted his 27th homer of the season, extending the lead to 8-3.

Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Teoscar Hernandez, Will Smith, and Andy Pages each tallied two hits for Los Angeles.

Justin Wrobleski pitched effectively for five innings, and Tanner Scott secured his 16th save.

Jack Dreyer started for the Dodgers, allowing one run on two hits in his single inning before Wrobleski took over. Wrobleski (3-2) conceded two runs on five hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Toglia achieved a career-best three doubles, and Jordan Beck added three hits for the Rockies, who matched the Dodgers with 14 hits.

Tyler Freeman extended his hitting streak to 11 games with two hits, and Hunter Goodman added two singles.

Rockies’ starter German Marquez (3-9) allowed six runs (none earned) and recorded six strikeouts across four innings before his departure.

Freddie Freeman reached base on an error by Toglia at first, and singles by Smith and Muncy loaded the bases with no outs. Freeman scored on Hernandez’s groundout, Pages drove in Smith with a fielder’s choice to tie the game, and Conforto’s homer to right made it 5-2.

Toglia’s subsequent error put Tommy Edman on base, who then scored on a double by Betts.

Colorado managed to score in the fifth when Beck singled, Toglia doubled, and Thairo Estrada hit a sacrifice fly, but Los Angeles countered in the sixth inning.

The Rockies added a run in the seventh via Estrada’s RBI single and reduced the deficit to 8-7 in the eighth. Freeman drove in a run with a double, and Beck’s double brought in two more.

The Dodgers padded their lead in the ninth with an RBI double from Hernandez.

Looking ahead, Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto is slated to pitch against the Rockies’ Chase Dollander on Wednesday.
