Djokovic Matches Federer’s Record with 14th Wimbledon Semifinal Berth

Following a noticeable slip during the final game of his quarterfinal match against 23-year-old Flavio Cobolli, Novak Djokovic acknowledged his physical condition isn’t what it once was.

Despite the incident, Djokovic has secured a spot in the Wimbledon semifinals for the 14th time, equaling Roger Federer’s tournament record for semifinal appearances.

Still in contention for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title, surpassing the current all-time record shared with Margaret Court, Djokovic commented on the prestige of Wimbledon and his ongoing capacity to perform at an elite level, even at 38 years old.

Djokovic’s Remarks

“There are a lot of numbers to consider,” Djokovic stated.

“Wimbledon has always been the most significant tournament in our sport, at least in my view, and I believe in the view of numerous other players. It means the world to me that I can still compete in the later stages at 38.”

Addressing the fall, Djokovic indicated it wasn’t severe, but the full impact might be felt later.

“My body isn’t quite what it used to be,” he noted.

“I anticipate feeling the true repercussions of the incident tomorrow. Hopefully, in the next 24 to 48 hours, the effects won’t be too detrimental, and I’ll be able to perform without pain in two days.”

Looking ahead to his semifinal match against world number one Jannik Sinner, Djokovic recognized the difficulty of the challenge.

“I’ll need to be at my absolute best to defeat Jannik. I am aware of that,” he concluded.
