Heartfelt Tribute from Jota’s Wife

The wife of the late Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, shared a touching message on social media this Tuesday, commemorating what would have been their first-month wedding anniversary.

Diogo Jota tragically died at 28 in a car accident near Zamora, in northwestern Spain.

His 25-year-old younger brother, Andre Silva, also died in the crash.

Reports indicate the deadly incident occurred just after midnight on July 3rd when their vehicle left the road and caught fire.

Jota’s wife expressed her feelings on social media, declaring she will ‘forever be his bride’.

She wrote, “One month of our ‘until death do us part’,” affirming she will be “forever” his bride.

The Civil Guard in Spain informed international media outlets this week that a comprehensive report on the accident is being completed by their traffic division before submission to a local court.

Jota became a Liverpool player in 2020, joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and played 182 games for the Reds, scoring 65 goals.

He was vital to the club’s achievements, notably the 2024–25 Premier League title, the 2022 FA Cup, and League Cup victories in 2022 and 2024.

Jota also played for Portugal’s national team, earning 49 caps.

He participated in the UEFA Euro tournaments in 2020 and 2024, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and was crucial in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League victories in 2019 and 2025.
