Dengue Situation Intensifies in Sindh

The province of Sindh is witnessing a noticeable rise in dengue cases, with health authorities releasing fresh data that highlights the growing concern.

According to the latest report from the Director General of Health Sindh, 50 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals, while 33 cases were recorded in private facilities. Karachi and Hyderabad remain the hardest-hit divisions, reflecting the urgency of the situation.

In Karachi alone, 16 patients were admitted to government hospitals, while Hyderabad reported 22 new admissions. Despite the surge, there is some relief as 63 patients recovered in government hospitals and 44 were discharged from private hospitals within the last 24 hours. Encouragingly, no fatalities have been reported.

Laboratory testing continues to play a crucial role in monitoring the outbreak. Out of 5,070 dengue tests conducted across Sindh, 559 returned positive results. Karachi laboratories accounted for the majority, with 347 positive cases, while Hyderabad reported 212 confirmed infections.

Health officials emphasize the importance of early detection and immediate medical attention. Citizens are strongly advised to visit hospitals if they experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, muscle pain, or skin rashes. Preventive measures like eliminating stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and maintaining clean surroundings are critical in reducing the spread.

The Sindh Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely, urging communities to remain vigilant. With rising numbers, public awareness and proactive steps remain the most effective defense against dengue.
