Promoting Healthy Living and Green Mobility in the Capital
Islamabad witnessed a vibrant display of community spirit as nearly 300 cyclists and hundreds of healthcare professionals came together to promote health and environmental awareness. The dual event — a cycling championship and a hike — showcased the city’s growing enthusiasm for fitness and eco-friendly initiatives.
The Islamabad Cycling Championship, organized by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) in collaboration with Allied Bank Limited, featured inclusive race categories. Participants competed across divisions including Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Under-16, and Under-9, ensuring representation from all age groups.
Meanwhile, healthcare professionals joined a hike at Margalla Trail 3, focusing on raising awareness about obesity prevention. Their participation highlighted the importance of physical activity in combating lifestyle-related health challenges.
The cycling rally, held at D-Chowk and Jinnah Avenue, drew enthusiastic crowds and reinforced the message of green mobility. Organizers emphasized that cycling is not only a recreational activity but also a sustainable mode of transport that reduces pollution and promotes healthier living.
By combining sports with public health advocacy, the event successfully encouraged citizens to adopt active lifestyles while supporting environmental sustainability. It demonstrated how community-driven initiatives can inspire positive change in both personal health and urban living.
This rally and hike mark a significant step toward building a culture of fitness and eco-consciousness in Islamabad, setting an example for other cities across Pakistan
