COAS Highlights Enduring Pakistan-China Friendship at PLA Anniversary
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized that the bond between Pakistan and China has remained strong and steadfast, irrespective of changing strategic landscapes. This statement was released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
According to the military’s media division, the army chief made these comments while participating in the 98th anniversary celebration of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. The event was hosted at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and attended by high-ranking military officials from both China and Pakistan.
The ISPR noted that the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, served as the ceremony’s principal guest.
The Chinese envoy was accompanied by China’s Defence Attaché, Major General Wang Zhong, along with other embassy representatives and senior officers from the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Field Marshal Munir greeted the Chinese dignitaries warmly and conveyed his congratulations on behalf of the Pakistan Army.
In his address, he lauded the PLA’s contribution to safeguarding China and its national development over nearly a century, as reported by the ISPR.
COAS Munir underscored that the strategic alliance between Pakistan and China is a model of mutual confidence, consistent support, and collective dedication.
“Our friendship with China stands apart; it has been tested by time and exhibits remarkable resilience,” the ISPR quoted the army chief as stating.
Underlining the robustness of the military connections between the two nations, Field Marshal Munir remarked: “The PLA and Pakistan Army are genuine brothers-in-arms. Our sustained collaboration is crucial for fostering regional stability and protecting our mutual strategic interests.”
On this occasion, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed gratitude to the COAS for hosting the event. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism and reiterated Beijing’s unwavering support and commitment to its strategic partnership with Islamabad.
