COAS Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Regional Peace
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir affirmed on Saturday Pakistan’s firm dedication to cultivating a safe, tranquil, and thriving regional environment through collaborative strategies and diplomatic efforts in defence.
Pakistan played host to the Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference held in Islamabad, which saw the attendance of high-ranking military officials from countries including the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
According to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference signifies a substantial advancement in bolstering regional security cooperation, strategic discussions, and military alliances.
The summit, themed “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace”, was focused on strengthening multifaceted collaboration in defence, specifically in areas such as counterterrorism, joint exercises, and the exchange of information.
The ISPR noted that participants took part in extensive dialogues regarding regional security patterns, the shifting geopolitical dynamics in both Central and South Asia, and the pressing requirement for synchronized reactions to international threats.
While welcoming the defence delegations, Field Marshal Munir restated Pakistan’s unwavering pledge to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
He highlighted the significance of enhanced cooperation between militaries, mutual confidence, and ongoing strategic discussions to tackle new hybrid threats and guarantee collective security.
“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, the imperative for deeper military cooperation and mutual trust is paramount,” he stated.
The army chief communicated that Pakistan is still completely dedicated to working alongside allied nations to foster a secure and prosperous regional setting.
The participating nations conveyed their gratitude for Pakistan’s guidance, hospitality, and vision in launching a platform centered on inclusive and progressive defence diplomacy.
They restated a mutual commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, combating terrorism and intense extremism, and confronting issues like cyber insecurity via collaborative endeavors.
The conference reached its conclusion with a joint appeal for sustained cooperation in both defence and security, acknowledging Pakistan’s constructive contribution to advancing peace and unity in the region.
