The Chief Minister has issued a directive for the immediate implementation of a dual emergency alert system Red Code and Blue Code across both public and private hospitals in the province to improve emergency response times and patient care standards.
Red Code: Rapid Response to Medical Crises
The Red Code will be used to signal medical emergencies such as severe injuries, allergic reactions, unconsciousness, seizures, or critical trauma cases. Hospitals are instructed to form trained Rapid Response Teams for immediate intervention.
Blue Code: Specialized Alert for Cardiac Arrests
The Blue Code is reserved for situations involving cardiac or respiratory arrest, requiring instant mobilization of life-saving resuscitation efforts, including CPR, defibrillation, and emergency cardiac medication administration by trained staff.
Hospitals Directed to Establish Emergency Protocols
Hospitals are required to:
- Install clear signage for Red and Blue Codes
- Create emergency coordination rooms
- Train all medical and non-medical staff
- Conduct regular drills and simulations
- Set up internal emergency contact systems
Uniform Response System to Save Lives
This system will bring uniformity and structure to hospital emergency responses, ensuring that every patient, regardless of location or time, receives timely and professional care during critical medical incidents
Monitoring and Compliance Measures Introduced
Health departments will monitor compliance, review hospital readiness, and impose penalties for delays or negligence. Monthly reports and incident tracking will be made mandatory for all healthcare facilities.
Goal: Patient Safety and Lifesaving Efficiency
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to raising healthcare standards, improving survival rates, and establishing hospitals as safe zones with advanced emergency preparedness protocols.
