Brentford Clinches Thrilling Victory Over Manchester United
BRENTFORD: In a captivating Premier League match held at the Gtech Community Stadium this Sunday, Brentford triumphed over Manchester United in a 4-3 victory.
While Mason Mount initially put United in the lead, the home side quickly retaliated. An own goal from Luke Shaw leveled the score for Brentford, followed by a header from Kevin Schade, giving the Bees the advantage before halftime.
The German winger’s goal marked his tenth of the season, making him the third Brentford player to achieve double figures in league goals this year.
Manchester United expressed frustration when the game wasn’t paused after defender Matthijs de Ligt sustained an injury leading up to Brentford’s third goal.
With 20 minutes remaining, Schade extended Brentford’s lead with a close-range header from a precise cross by Bryan Mbeumo, seemingly securing the win for his team.
However, Brentford wasn’t finished yet. A fluid attacking sequence culminated in Michael Kayode delivering a precise pass through United’s defense to Yoane Wissa, who calmly scored Brentford’s fourth goal.
Speaking after the game, United’s manager, Rúben Amorim, voiced his concerns regarding De Ligt’s injury.
“My main concern isn’t about Thursday’s game. We subbed Luke Shaw at halftime to protect him for Thursday, but I’m more anxious about the severity of De Ligt’s injury, especially concerning next season,” the coach stated.
With only a month left in the season, the race for European qualification remains competitive. Potentially, up to 10 English clubs could qualify for European competitions, dependent on the outcomes of the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League, and the Premier League itself.
