Islamabad United Restricts Karachi Kings to Modest Total in PSL 9 Clash

KARACHI: Islamabad United showcased a strong bowling performance, limiting Karachi Kings to a score of 128/7 in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 match held at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday.

The Kings faced an early setback, losing captain David Warner (3) and James Vince (4) within the initial four overs, managing only 22 runs.

Following these dismissals, Saad Baig joined Tim Seifert and together they aimed to stabilize the innings.

The pair cautiously accumulated 39 runs for the third wicket, before Shadab Khan dismissed Baig in the 10th over, disrupting their partnership.

Baig contributed 20 runs from 17 balls, including four boundaries.

Seifert’s innings concluded in the 13th over, as he was dismissed by Imad Wasim after scoring a struggling 30 runs off 37 balls, with only one boundary.

Further struggles ensued for the Kings when Muhammad Irfan Khan was trapped by Shadab in the 16th over, scoring only five runs from eight balls.

Naseem Shah compounded the Kings’ difficulties by dismissing Khushdil Shah with a short delivery. The all-rounder scored 17 runs off 23 balls, including a single boundary.

Holder then claimed his leading wicket-taker title by dismissing Aamir Jamal, reducing the Kings to 102/7 in 18 overs.

Abbas Afridi’s quickfire 24 runs from nine balls, featuring one four and three sixes, helped the Kings reach a total of 128/7.

For Islamabad United, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Holder each took two wickets, while Imad Wasim secured one.
