Netherlands Tour of Bangladesh for Historic T20I Series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally announced the schedule for a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands. This series marks the first time the two nations will engage in a bilateral series on Bangladeshi soil.
The Dutch team is slated to arrive in Bangladesh on August 26. They will participate in a three-day training camp before the commencement of the series.
All three T20I matches are scheduled to take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS). The first match will be held on August 30, followed by the subsequent matches on September 1 and September 3.
This series is particularly important for Bangladesh, serving as a vital preparatory stage for the Asia Cup, which is set to begin on September 9.
For the Netherlands, this tour signifies their first visit to Bangladesh since the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup.
Historically, Bangladesh and the Netherlands have competed against each other in five T20I matches, with Bangladesh holding a 4-1 lead in the head-to-head record.
Their sole prior bilateral series was a two-match T20I series played in the Netherlands back in 2012.
The two teams last faced off during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where Bangladesh secured a 25-run victory.
Notably, this series is Bangladesh’s fifth consecutive T20I series. Previously, they experienced consecutive away series defeats against the UAE and Pakistan, losing 2-1 and 3-0, respectively.
Following these series, the Tigers toured Sri Lanka for a series spanning multiple formats, where they only managed to secure a 2-1 victory in the three-match T20I series.
Subsequently, Pakistan toured Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, which the hosts won 2-1.
