Bayern Munich vs. PSG Set for Club World Cup Quarter-Final

Harry Kane’s brace propelled Bayern Munich to a 4-2 victory over Flamengo at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. This win secures their spot in the Club World Cup quarter-final, where they will clash with Paris St Germain in a highly anticipated all-European showdown.

An own goal by Erick Pulgar initiated the scoring for Bayern, with Leon Goretzka also finding the net. Flamengo, despite their offensive efforts, conceded twice, with Gerson and Jorginho reducing the deficit.

Fueled by an energetic crowd, Flamengo adopted an aggressive approach. However, Bayern capitalized on their opportunities, converting their shots and benefiting from a rapid start that saw them score twice within the first 10 minutes.

“It was a challenging match against a strong opponent in tough, hot conditions,” Kane acknowledged. “We performed well for extended periods, but they consistently fought back, making it difficult. The fourth goal was crucial in calming our nerves, and we managed the game effectively from there.”

Earlier on Sunday, PSG, the Champions League victors, showcased their attacking prowess by comfortably defeating Inter Miami 4-0. They eased off after halftime, preventing a potentially humiliating defeat for Lionel Messi’s MLS team.

Match Highlights

Bayern initiated the scoring in the sixth minute when Pulgar inadvertently redirected a corner kick into his own goal. Shortly after, Kane doubled their advantage with a precise low shot that rebounded off the post.

Flamengo found their rhythm and nearly scored in the 15th minute, but Manuel Neuer denied Luiz Araujo’s close-range attempt.

After a cooling break, Flamengo narrowed the gap as Gerson unleashed a shot that struck the underside of the bar before finding the net, igniting the crowd’s enthusiasm.

However, Bayern quickly restored their two-goal lead before halftime, with Goretzka exploiting the space in the Flamengo defense to fire a shot past goalkeeper Agustin Rossi from outside the box.

Tensions rose following a harsh tackle by Pulgar on Kane, reflecting Flamengo’s growing frustration.

Flamengo reduced the deficit again 10 minutes into the second half, as Jorginho converted a penalty awarded for a Michael Olise handball, sending Neuer the wrong way.

Despite Flamengo’s threatening counter-attacks, Bayern maintained their composure and extended their lead once more through Kane, who delivered another accurate low shot past Rossi in the 73rd minute.
