Shaun Tait Appointed as Bangladesh’s Fast Bowling Coach

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially named former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait as the fast bowling coach for the national team. His contract will extend until November 2027.

In a formal statement released today, the BCB verified Tait’s appointment and provided details regarding his contractual agreement.

According to the BCB’s declaration, the 42-year-old will integrate into the team’s structure later this month, having finalized terms with the BCB. This arrangement will keep him with the team through November 2027.

Tait takes over from former New Zealand pacer Andre Adams, whose departure was acknowledged by the board earlier today.

The Aussie talent has prior experience as the head coach for the Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

He also has substantial international coaching experience, including roles with the national teams of Pakistan, West Indies (Test team), and Afghanistan as a bowling coach.

His coaching resume includes work in major leagues such as the Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lanka Premier League (LPL), English County Cricket, and the BPL.

Tait shared his excitement and optimism about the squad’s outlook in a statement regarding his new position.

Tait emphasized the team’s encouraging trajectory, particularly the rise of young pace bowlers, and his dedication to transforming potential into tangible results. The statement was issued by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Tait was quoted in the BCB press release saying that it’s a favorable moment to be associated with the Bangladesh cricket team, describing it as a new era. He acknowledged the widely discussed topic of young talent among the fast bowlers, which he views as a positive sign.

He added that this is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone anticipates that the talent will yield outcomes, which is his main area of focus with the fast bowling group and, most importantly, achieving more victories for the team.

Tait also expressed his enthusiasm about the chance to collaborate with Phil Simmons and his eagerness for the journey ahead.

Tait, recognized as one of the quickest bowlers in international cricket history, played a vital role in Australia’s ICC Cricket World Cup victory in 2007. Throughout his career, he participated in 59 matches for Australia across all formats.
