Babar Lauds Saim’s Impactful Performance as a Boost for Player and Team
MULTAN: Peshawar Zalmi’s skipper, Babar Azam, commended young batsman Saim Ayub for his composed and forceful innings. Ayub’s performance was crucial in Zalmi’s dominant seven-wicket victory against Multan Sultans in the 25th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 on Monday.
With a target of 109, Zalmi achieved the score in just 13 overs, spearheaded by Ayub.
The 22-year-old, who had been struggling in previous games, displayed a remarkable return to form with a superb 49 runs from 33 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and three impressive sixes.
During the post-match presentation, Babar voiced his satisfaction with Ayub’s opportune return to form and emphasized the performance’s importance for the player’s and the team’s morale.
“We were all anticipating Saim Ayub’s return to form. Tonight, he demonstrated a smart yet aggressive approach when the team required it most,” Babar stated.
“I want to particularly acknowledge Saim’s performance. It was essential not only for his self-assurance but also for sustaining the team’s equilibrium,” he added.
Babar further described Ayub as a “game-changer,” highlighting his significance in Zalmi’s PSL campaign.
“He is naturally a match-winner. When Saim is performing well, he has the capability to single-handedly dominate the game. Today’s innings highlighted his considerable talent and value to the team,” the captain noted.
Reflecting on Ayub’s recent difficulties, Babar mentioned that a brief respite had enabled the young player to mentally refocus and return with renewed commitment.
“He is still developing and gaining experience. Occasionally, taking a break can aid in clearing the mind. We encourage our young players to face challenges and emerge more resilient,” he remarked.
Babar also complimented his bowlers for dictating the match’s flow by utilizing the conditions effectively.
“We did not anticipate the pitch to behave in this manner, but our bowlers adjusted excellently. By bowling hard lengths and adhering to the strategy, we were able to restrict them early,” he concluded.
