Pakistan and US Officials Discuss Reciprocal Tariffs in Virtual Meeting

ISLAMABAD: Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Finance Minister, participated in a virtual conference with the United States Commerce Secretary concerning reciprocal tariffs imposed by the US.

Following discussions between Pakistan and the US regarding these tariffs, Minister Aurangzeb and Howard Lutnick, the United States’ Commerce Secretary, convened on June 16th, 2025, to address the matter.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to advancing negotiations through productive discussions, with the aim of finalizing a trade agreement promptly.

The discussions centered on fostering significant engagement in trade and investment, as well as strengthening economic connections to benefit both nations. It was agreed that detailed technical discussions would occur in the coming days, guided by a mutually approved plan.
