Security Forces Eliminate Six Terrorists in KP Operations

RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that security forces killed at least six militants during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.

According to the military’s media affairs wing, an operation was carried out in the Razmak general area of North Waziristan district following reports of terrorist presence.

“During the operation, our troops effectively engaged the militants’ location, resulting in five being neutralized,” stated the ISPR.

In a separate IBO conducted in South Waziristan District, security forces eliminated Zabi Ullah Zakran, a key leader actively involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces and the targeted killings of innocent civilians.

The statement highlighted that the slain leader was highly sought after by law enforcement agencies.

Currently, sanitization operations are underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists, as “security forces are determined to eradicate terrorism from the country.”

Since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a significant increase in attacks, primarily in KP and Balochistan. Islamabad asserts that hostile groups are planning these attacks from within Afghan territory.

Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) indicates a 42% surge in terror attacks in January 2025 compared to the previous month.

The data revealed at least 74 militant attacks nationwide, resulting in 91 fatalities, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Furthermore, 117 individuals were injured, comprising 53 security forces personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.

KP remained the most affected province, followed by Balochistan. In KP’s settled districts, militants conducted 27 attacks, leading to 19 deaths, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and two militants.

The tribal districts of KP (formerly Fata) experienced 19 attacks, resulting in 46 fatalities, including 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants.
