Djokovic Reveals Secrets to Maintaining Peak Physical Condition at 38

Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic, at 38, has shared insights into his remarkable fitness regimen that allows him to compete with younger athletes.

Djokovic, the holder of a record-breaking 24 Grand Slam titles, remains a formidable force, having reached the semi-finals in all four major tournaments this year while challenging the dominance of rising tennis stars like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

In a recent interview, Djokovic detailed his daily practices, which contribute to his sustained competitiveness and exceptional physical condition.

Morning Routine

“My day begins with a prayer,” Djokovic explained.

“It’s an act of expressing gratitude for life and the opportunity to experience another day.

“Following this, I focus on hydration, drinking lukewarm water with lemon and a pinch of salt. I also consume a specialized hydration formula to replenish electrolytes and minerals.”

“I enjoy consuming fruits, smoothies, or juices to ensure I get a sufficient intake of vitamins and multivitamins.”

Favorite Smoothie Recipe

When asked about his preferred smoothie, the Serbian athlete mentioned his fondness for mixed berries and dates.

“Mixed berries and dates are my favorites. I really enjoy dates. I also incorporate hemp seeds and various other seeds. Superfoods like maca powder and spirulina are included—though the taste isn’t the best!” Djokovic added.

“I use a green powder blend that contains seaweeds, but it’s palatable because it’s mixed with other ingredients, effectively masking the unpleasant flavor.”

Caffeine Intake and Hobbies

Novak Djokovic then disclosed his caffeine consumption and recreational activities outside of tennis that contribute to his fitness.

“I don’t drink coffee. Occasionally, I might have a green tea that contains caffeine,” he noted.

“If I don’t have a scheduled tennis practice or training session, I still prioritize being active and spending time outdoors for my overall well-being. I enjoy swimming in the sea, cycling, hiking, running, and jogging.

“I also like participating in other sports such as football, basketball, padel, and ping pong to promote blood flow. After fulfilling the active part of my day, I like to unwind with activities like sauna sessions and ice baths.”

Despite being in the later stages of his career, the Serbian tennis legend aims to secure another major title before retiring.
