Asia Cup 2025 Schedule Expected Soon
The schedule for the Asia Cup 2025 is anticipated to be revealed within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to reports from Indian media on Saturday.
This announcement follows a recent Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting held in Dhaka, which saw some friction between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
As per a report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as the designated host of the continental tournament, was tasked with finalizing the schedule during the aforementioned meeting.
Sources indicate that the schedule might be disclosed in stages, potentially beginning partially on Saturday and concluding on Monday. However, a full announcement during the weekend is still a possibility.
The Asia Cup is provisionally scheduled to occur from September 10 to 28, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates being the likely host cities.
The BCCI is reportedly in the process of adding final touches to the draft schedule while also addressing remaining commercial aspects. While some minor date revisions could be made, the intended window in mid-to-late September is generally expected to remain as is.
As previously mentioned, the tournament will involve eight participating teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, UAE, and Oman.
In total, 19 matches are planned, including the final, which is slated for the last Sunday of September.
India and Pakistan are expected to be in the same group, potentially leading to three high-stakes matches: one in the group stage, another in the Super Four, and possibly a final showdown. The Asia Cup will be contested in the T20 format.
Earlier in May, speculations arose regarding India potentially withdrawing from the Asia Cup 2025; however, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) quickly refuted these claims.
More recently, a promotional graphic for the tournament featuring only India and Sri Lanka surfaced on social media, creating discussion due to the omission of Pakistan and raising questions about their involvement, especially considering the complex political relationship between the two neighboring countries.
Given the agreement established last year between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which limits their bilateral encounters to ICC or ACC tournaments held at neutral venues, any potential match between India and Pakistan will not be held on Indian soil.
