Arshad Nadeem Withdraws from Swiss Event Due to Injury Concerns
Lahore: Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s celebrated Olympic javelin thrower, has announced his withdrawal from the World Athletics Silver Tour competition in Switzerland, scheduled for July 15.
Nadeem addressed the media recently, explaining that his decision to forego the event stems from an injury sustained during training.
“I have opted to withdraw from the Switzerland event due to a calf strain I suffered while training,” Nadeem stated to reporters in Lahore.
“To prevent the strain from getting worse, I believe this choice is best for my long-term well-being.”
The 27-year-old athlete is now prioritizing upcoming major competitions.
“My complete attention is directed towards the World Championship in Tokyo this September,” he said. “I will depart for London on July 14 to continue my training in a more conducive environment.”
He further elaborated on the rationale behind his withdrawal from the Swiss event and the decision to move his training overseas.
“The current heat in Pakistan is intense, and the impending monsoon season has made training difficult. Such conditions elevate the risk of injury, as happened with my calf.”
Nadeem also emphasized the need for ideal conditions to optimize both performance and recovery as he prepares for the World Championship.
“England will provide favorable weather and enhanced recovery resources, which are vital at this stage,” he noted. “Coach Salman Iqbal Butt will accompany me, and we will collaborate to prepare for the upcoming challenges.”
Following his training period in England, Arshad anticipates participating in the Diamond League event in Poland on August 16.
“I am confident that the quality of training and recovery available in England will adequately prepare me for both the Diamond League and the World Championship,” he concluded.
