Amorim Aims for Long-Term United Stay, Eyes Championship Titles
CHICAGO: Ruben Amorim voiced his ambition to remain the manager at Manchester United for ’20 years’ this past Saturday, expressing confidence that the club will secure titles in both England and Europe.
While acknowledging a challenging start to his tenure after taking over at Old Trafford in November, the manager is focused on revitalizing the team’s performance.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, no United manager has lasted beyond three years, a trend Amorim hopes to break. The Portuguese coach’s current contract extends until 2027, including an option for an additional year.
Amorim reiterated his strong desire for a prolonged commitment to the club, remaining optimistic about the future.
“My intention is to stay, I want to stay 20 [years]. That’s my aim, and I really believe it’s achievable. Something positive will happen. It always does. I anticipate some fortunate moments ahead,” Amorim stated.
He further noted that luck generally favors him, reinforcing his belief in a long tenure. He admitted to utilizing all available resources last season but is now prepared for a fresh beginning.
“Throughout my managerial career, I’ve experienced considerable luck, and my plan is to remain here for many years. However, I’m aware that results will ultimately determine my fate. I recognize that I exhausted all available resources last season, but I’m eager to start anew,” he added.
Amorim is determined to improve upon their previous 15th-place finish in the Premier League, which represented United’s worst showing since their relegation to a lower division over half a century ago.
