Sesko Primed for Potential Debut Against Arsenal

MANCHESTER: According to Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, newly acquired forward Benjamin Sesko is prepared to participate and the possibility remains open for him to feature in the starting lineup against Arsenal in their Premier League season opener this Sunday.

The Red Devils secured the services of the Slovenian international, Sesko, from RB Leipzig of Germany the previous week. The agreement involves a contract valued at 76.5 million euros ($89 million), accompanied by 8.5 million in potential bonus payments, extending until 2030.

Amorim confirmed Sesko’s readiness but indicated the decision regarding his starting role is yet to be made.

“Although our time has been limited, he is in good condition, he is physically fit, which is a significant factor in our league. Furthermore, his intelligence is evident…he is available to play, and we shall determine if he will be in the first eleven,” Amorim stated.

Amorim further commented that Manchester United, who ended last season in 15th position (their lowest since 1973-74), are focused on qualifying for a European competition.

“Complete transformation in a month is not feasible, however, progress is evident. Our training intensity has increased, and we are better equipped to handle the game’s challenges,” he noted.

“Our ambition is to return to Europe. We need to maintain realistic expectations with our supporters. We anticipate a tough battle given that several teams have had more time to develop cohesion. Our strategy involves concentrating on each match individually. Our current objective is to achieve victory against Arsenal.”

Ruben Amorim provided updates on defenders Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui, confirming their absence for the weekend’s match. However, he mentioned that forward Joshua Zirkzee and goalkeeper Andre Onana have recovered and are eligible to play against Arsenal.

He also emphasized his current focus, stating that he is living in the moment by taking each day and each match as it comes.

“My learning experience last season was extensive. I refrain from concentrating on the future. It lacks importance and holds no interest for me. I prioritize living in the present. Any external distractions to our team are disregarded, enabling me to fully prepare the team for the match against Arsenal,” Amorim concluded.
