Trent Alexander-Arnold to Leave Liverpool in 2025
Liverpool’s right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has announced his departure from the club upon the conclusion of his contract on June 30, 2025. This decision marks the end of his long-standing, two-decade affiliation with the team he supported since childhood.
Alexander-Arnold, who progressed through Liverpool’s youth academy, initially joined the club at the age of six and debuted with the senior team in 2016. Now 26, the England international described his choice to leave as a challenging one but essential for his development, both personally and professionally.
“I want to emphasize that this was not an easy decision. It involved considerable thought and emotion,” Alexander-Arnold stated. “Having spent 20 years here, cherishing every moment and fulfilling all my aspirations, I feel the need for a fresh start and a new challenge—both as a player and as an individual. I believe the timing is right.”
The defender conveyed his sincere appreciation to Liverpool’s fans, acknowledging their steadfast encouragement throughout his career.
“There’s much I’d like to express. Primarily, a massive thank you. You’ve been with me from the beginning, offering support in every situation,” he remarked.
“I’ve consistently felt your affection and backing—it hasn’t gone unnoticed. I trust it’s evident that I’ve dedicated everything I could to the club in return,” he added.
Alexander-Arnold also addressed concerns regarding the timing of his announcement, encouraging supporters to concentrate on celebrating the team’s achievements this season.
“My hope is that we can continue winning matches and that the focus on my decision does not overshadow our accomplishments this season,” he explained.
“It has been an exceptional season, and I hope fans will continue to celebrate what the team has achieved,” he concluded.
During his Liverpool tenure, Alexander-Arnold played in 352 matches, scoring 23 goals and securing eight major titles, including one in the current season.
