Liverpool Agrees to Deal for Darwin Nunez with Al Hilal

Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal for the transfer of Darwin Nunez, according to international media sources.

The agreement will see Liverpool receive €53 million (£46.3 million), in addition to potential bonus payments for the Uruguayan forward.

The Premier League side is reportedly in discussions with Newcastle regarding Alexander Isak, who is viewed as a potential replacement for Nunez if both transactions are finalized.

Nunez joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022 from Benfica for an initial fee of £64 million. He has since made 143 appearances for the Reds, scoring 40 goals over three seasons.

Speculation about the 26-year-old’s departure from Anfield has been circulating since January, with reports suggesting he expressed significant interest in Al-Hilal’s offer.

Nunez was also mentioned in connection with a transfer to Italian side Napoli, but Liverpool turned down an offer from the Serie A club earlier in the summer transfer window.

Napoli had placed Nunez as a high priority target and made several attempts to negotiate a deal.

Liverpool maintained their position due to Napoli’s valuation falling short of expectations, and the proposed payment structure involved deferred funds until the summer of 2026, paid over a five-year duration.

Darwin Nunez’s transfer will contribute significantly to Liverpool’s summer sales, potentially nearing the £200 million mark. They have already finalized the transfers of Caoimhin Kelleher, Nat Phillips, Jarell Quansah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Tyler Morton for a combined £146.5 million.
